Design Process

Our primary purpose is to provide a design for your home's garden that embraces your lifestyle while complementing and adding value to your home.

First Visit

Our first visit is normally held at the site to briefly introduce ourselves and show a portfolio of some of our previous work. A quick walk around the garden, or block if you are yet to commence building, in conjunction with a chat allows us to provide a no obligation estimate of the design fee to prepare a detailed landscape design for your property.

Design Estimate

Upon acceptance of the design estimate, we return for a several hour visit, normally held on site again, when we discuss in detail your design ideas and review several means of promoting design discussion to maximize the potential of the meeting.  We will also spend time outdoors wandering the garden to make further notes and observations, taking many check measurements and photographs to assist in design preparation.

Design Process

We then divide the design process into two discrete stages to allow our clients the opportunity for feedback and revision at the end of each stage.  This ensures the design most closely meets approval with the least amount of revision (and cost).

Revision

The first opportunity for revision occurs at completion of the hard landscaping stage.  This stage details the block size with residence and outbuildings located, indicating and locating primary structural features such as pools, decking, driveways, paving and pathways, garden structures, garden beds, major plantings, etc. This can be mailed, emailed and / or followed up by a site meeting depending on our clients preference.

Approval

On approval of the hard landscaping we proceed to the soft landscaping, otherwise known as detailing.  This stage includes the designing of all plantings, garden lighting, detailing of colours, textures, finishes etc.  The design is completed with descriptive text. Again this stage is provided for revision and can be mailed, emailed and / or followed up by a site meeting.

Final Approval

On final approval, three copies of the design (in plan view) in full colour large format print (normally at a scale of 1:100) along with a digital PDF copy of the design will be provided. We also will provide the contact details of two suitably qualified landscape contractors who will also each be forwarded a copy of the completed design to allow them to directly prepare a quotation to our client for the construction of the design.

At this point our service ends and works will be invoiced.
